The Domaine Tempier Cabassaou 2023 is a rare, ultra-premium red wine from the Bandol region in Provence, France. It is highly prized by collectors for its incredible power, limited production, and long shelf life.
The Wine At A Glance
  • Grape Grapes: Mostly Mourvèdre (usually over 90%), blended with small amounts of Syrah and Cinsault.
  • Wine Style: Bold, rich, deeply structured, and full-bodied.
  • Flavor Profile: Intense dark fruits like plum and blackberry, mixed with spices, leather, tobacco, and wild French herbs.
Where It Comes From
The wine is named after a tiny, special vineyard plot called Cabassaou. The name translates to "gives a hefty punch" because the wine is so strong and concentrated.
  • The Dirt and Sun: The vines grow at the bottom of a hill surrounded by stone walls. This keeps them safe from cold northern winds. The grapes soak up massive amounts of sun all day.
  • Old Vines: The grapes grow on old vines that are at least 60 years old. Old vines grow fewer grapes, but the fruit they do grow has a much stronger flavor.
